A vehicle includes a body with a first rail 110 and an upper rail 120 spaced from first rail 110. Upper rail 120 has a base portion 125 and top and bottom prongs 130, 135 each extending from base portion 125. In one most preferred example, a bumper 142 is connected to first rail 110 and to top prong 130, and a subframe 145 is connected to bottom prong 135. Typically the subframe may have a bending point to bend downwardly, and the top prong may have a bending point to bend upwardly. An alternative arrangement has first and upper rails 110, 120 on opposite sides, namely inboard and outboard respectively, of a shock tower 170, a hinge pillar 190 and also a bulkhead 180 from which first rail 110 extends forwardly.
