Control of a steering system of an aircraft landing gear (102, figure 2a), the aircraft landing gear 102 being configurable in a stowed configuration and a deployed configuration. The steering system comprises a wheel arrangement (202, figure 2a) including one or more wheels. The control apparatus is arranged to perform a control process comprising: [step 700] receiving one or more signals from one or more sensors (302a, 302b, figure 3) indicating a position of the wheel arrangement 202 when the landing gear is in the stowed configuration; [step 702] determining whether a predetermined condition is satisfied in relation to the position of the wheel arrangement 202; and, in response to determining that the predetermined condition is satisfied, [step 704] performing an adjustment process to control the steering system to adjust the position of the wheel arrangement 202. The predetermined condition may be the steering alignment being away from centred by greater than a defined threshold value. The process may be carried out in response to a command 70 to extend the landing gear, or may be carried out repeatedly throughout a flight (figure 6).
