A tandem rotorcraft has a first rotor whose axis can swivel with respect to the axis of a second rotor. Swivelling is driven by controlling the pitch of the rotor blades and allows yawing of the rotorcraft. Separate means may be used to power the two rotors, which may be synchronised using a twisted belt or a drive shaft. If the powering means are motors, synchronisation may be provided by controlling the electrical drive signals. Control and stabilisation of the rotorcraft may use one or two three-axis gyroscopes mounted to the rotorcraft fuselage to measure the rotation of the rotor shaft(s), and/or measurement of the rotational position of a section of the fuselage connected to the first rotor shaft with respect to a portion of the fuselage connected to the second rotor shaft. Methods of constructing, controlling, flying and using rotorcraft of the invention are also disclosed.
