A receiving device 1 for an inductive power transfer system (e.g. of an electric vehicle) includes a housing comprising a cover element 2 and a base element 3, the cover element having at least one reception area 9a, 9b for a circuit board 10a, 10b. The receiving device further includes at least one magnetic shielding element 13a, 13b (e.g. aluminium shielding plate) that at least partially covers the at least one reception area of the cover element. The magnetic shielding element protects the circuit board by shielding it from the electromagnetic field emitted by a transmitting device. A contour of the magnetic shielding element may fully enclose a contour of the circuit board or enclose the contour of the circuit board by more than a predetermined non-zero percentage but not fully in a common plane of projection. The receiving device includes a winding structure 12, wherein the magnetic shielding element is arranged below the winding structure. The thickness of the magnetic shielding element may depend on a frequency of the electromagnetic field receivable by the winding structure.
