Disclosed is a stud device suitable for use in an elevator cover assembly 200, said stud device comprising: a mount 135 attachable to a wall; and a knob 130a projecting from the mount. The knob is configured to receive an opening 222 of a wall cover 110. The stud device may also include a mount plate or base 134, a stem 136, and a head 138 which is larger than the stem. The stud device may further comprise a threaded fastener disposed through a hole in the head, stem, and mount plate. The mount 135 may be a threaded shaft extending from the mount plate 134, and the knob may comprise a conically shaped body having a side wall with a cavity permitting the passage of a tool to remove the stud device from a wall. The knob may be movable relative to the mount between stowed and deployed positions. Also disclosed is a wall cover assembly comprising: a cover pad 110; and a trim 220 with openings 222 for receiving a knob 130. The trim is formed from a piece of material separate to the cover pad. Further disclosed is a method of assembling a wall cover assembly.
