A parachute separation device 100 comprising a male link body 120 attached to a parachute riser 12 (fig 1), and a female base assembly 130 attached to a harness 14 (fig 1). The device comprises a link body 120 having a pair of rotatably biased lock pins 160, 170, a slide assembly 150 that is displaced to rotate the lock pins 160, 170, an ejection spring 156 that is engagable against the link body 120, a latch 140 that is pivotally displaceable to allow the slide assembly 150 to be displaced; and lock pin arms 180, 190 that are rotatably fixed to each lock pin 160, 170 and engagable by the slide assembly 150, each forming a recess and a distal offset extension; wherein displacement of the latch 140 and pushing the slide assembly 150 causes the said slide assembly to engage the arms 180, 190 and rotate the pins 160, 170 to an angular position at which the ejection spring 156 forces the male link body 120 to eject from the female base assembly 130.The slide assembly 150 may require a displacement force of approximately 6kgs to be released from the link body 120.
