An amphibious aircraft comprising at least two floats 111, (211 fig. 5) where each float comprises first and second wheels, 114, 115, with the first wheel in front of the second. The first wheel is arranged so that an angle of between 145 degrees and 175 degrees is formed between a line running along the ground-engaging side of the float (Z1, figure 3) and a tangent of the wheel where the wheels circumference meets the bottom edge of the float (Z2, figure 3). The float may be supported by a suspension system 100, which allows the float to move upwards and aftwards on receiving a shock.
