A vehicle includes motor(s), steering, sensors and processor(s) and is configured to load a stored parking spot 300, map an area in front of the vehicle using the sensors, intersect virtual segments with locations on the map based on the stored parking spot, compare a current heading to a desired heading and automatically steer the vehicle based on the desired heading. In an embodiment, three intersection points of the parking spot can be intersected with three points on the map, and four virtual segments intersected with the three intersection points. Typically, the stored parking spot can be overlaid on the map, and infrared sensors 180a, 180b may be used to detect a beam of infrared light defining a side 307 of the parking spot.
