An elevating platform comprises a base 12 an elongate support structure 16 located on the base, and a work platform 14 mounted for elevating movement along the support structure, wherein the support structure 16 is extendable along its length. The support structure may comprise multiple support masts capable of moving linearly with respect to one another in order to extend the overall length of the structure. This can be achieved, for example, by arranging the support members telescopically. The means by which the work platform moves along the support structure may be through a rack and pinion set up, with a track mounted to the support members 22 and a pinion gear to the platform (34). A drive means can be included to move the platform along the track. The platform can further comprise room for an operator to stand and a guardrail 26 for safety.
