A parking system, for a vehicle 900 having an accelerator, brakes, wheels, sensors, a display, a processor, and memory, comprises a parking assist program stored in the memory which is configured to receive dimensions of a parallel parking space and the vehicle and to project, based on the received dimensions, whether vehicle 900 can exit the parallel parking space with a future leading block or with a future trailing block, for example if a space A in front of vehicle 900 or a space B behind vehicle 900 becomes obstructed. The system may also project whether vehicle doors, such as a vehicle trunk, can fully open based on the received dimensions and whether the vehicle would be a legal distance from a curb. A number of potential outcomes may be projected and it may be determined whether the exit is smooth or pointed. Optionally the system may allow vehicle 900 to automatically enter or leave the parking space.
