A big data-based electric vehicle charging station recommendation system 200 identifies charging stations 300 for an electric vehicle 100 (EV, HEV, PHEV, BEV) that have the shortest charge waiting time. The system comprises; a driving information receiving unit 210, a charging station information unit 220, a charge waiting time calculation unit 230 and an optimal charging station providing unit 240. The driving information receiving unit receives a charging station search request, along with information about an estimated discharge time and a current location from an electric vehicle. The charging station information receiving unit receives real-time power consumption data from one or more charging stations and sends it to the charge waiting time calculation unit which, in response to the charging station request, calculates a charge waiting time of one or more of the charging stations on the basis of their power consumption data. The optimal charging station providing unit receives: information about the estimated discharge time and current location from the driving information unit; and the charge waiting time from the charge waiting time calculation unit. The optimal charging station providing unit then provides information about the optimal charging station that: can be reached within the estimated discharge time, based on the current location; and can recharge the vehicle in the shortest time.
