A splined coupling 16 comprises a radially inner shaft 20 and a radially outer shaft 22. The inner shaft being located in a cavity 24 of the outer shaft.. First splines 30 are provided on a radially outwardly facing surface of the inner shaft and second splines 38 are provided on a radially inwardly facing surface of the cavity of the outer shaft. The first splines are slidably engaged with the second splines. At least one biasing element 80 acts between the inner and outer shafts to axially locate the first splines in position relative to the second splines and to provide a biasing force that resists the relative axial movement of the first and second splines upon relative axial movement of the inner and outer shafts. The biasing element may be a diaphragm and the coupling may find use in an actuator drive system for aircraft control systems.
