A seat back 1 comprises a rear wall (2, figure 1A) bordered by side walls (3a, 3b, figure 1A) projecting forward from the rear wall. An insert 5 for supporting the back of a person, is disposed at least partially in a cavity (4, figure 1A) defined in front of the rear wall and between opposing surfaces of the side walls. The seat back and insert are shaped to restrict downward movement of the insert 5 towards the base of the seat back (e.g. forming a geometric lock, requiring no mechanical fasteners or connectors). Preferably the seat back comprises recesses 7a, 7b in the forward facing surface 9a, 9b of a perimeter wall (3, figure 1A) for engaging lateral tabs or protrusions 8a, 8b of the insert. The cavity and insert may taper. Preferably, the insert comprises a curved recess 10 in its bottom edge and the base of the cavity is not filled by the insert, e.g. for accommodating a seat base (11, figure 3). The insert may be resiliently deformable, e.g. made of foam. A row of vehicle seats, e.g. aircraft seats comprising the seat back is disclosed.
