An aircraft 40 has a fuselage 42 with a centreline 44 and includes a wing 46 extending from the fuselage with a leading edge 56 and a trailing edge. An engine 48 is mounted to the wing and has a rotating output shaft 50 with a propeller 52 operably coupled to the shaft. The propeller generates a rotating flow field to define a propeller wake when the propeller is rotated by the rotating output shaft. The propeller wake affects the angle of attack within the wake and induces regions of increased wing loading and regions of reduced wing loading. The wing is modified in these regions by having altered physical characteristics such as by having areas of reduced chord 62 and areas of increased chord 64.
