An aircraft landing gear (150 fig 3) with a locking assembly (101 fig 3) comprises a pair of spaced apart bearing pads 106 and a lock 110. The lock 110 is moveable between a locked position in which it engages the bearing pads 106 to prevent pivotal movement of a steerable axle (154 fig 3), and an unlocked position in which the lock 110 is disengaged from the bearing pads 160 such that movement of the axle (154 fig 3) can occur. The lock 110 has a guide surface 112 on either side for guiding the lock 110 and bearing pads 106 into alignment. The guide surface 112 comprises first and second inclined portions 112a, 112c such that the lock 110 and bearing pads 106 are aligned in a two stages movement. The gradient of the inclined portions 112a, 112c may be different. Each guide surface may include an intermediate portion 112b between the inclined portions 112a, 112c. The lock 110 may include a stop 114 on either side. Each guide surface 112 may have an intermediate portion 112d between the second inclined portion 112c and the stop 114.
