A rotatable leg rest assembly has a first leg rest 10, a second leg rest 20, a motor 30 connected via an output drive shaft 32 to two decelerating pivot devices 40, where the leg rest portions are pivotally connected to each other by the decelerating pivot devices respectively mounted on two ends of the output shaft. The decelerating pivot devices act as reduction gear assemblies having a reduction ratio between a rotation rate inputted by the output shaft and a rotation rate output to relatively rotate the first and the second seat portions. The pivot device may comprise an internal 44 and external gear 42, where the internal gear is rotated by an eccentric cam unit 45 circularly about the output shaft. This hypocyclic motion acts as a wobble mechanism to reduce the rotation ratio. The eccentric unit may comprise a primary and secondary eccentric element (451,452, Fig.7) torsion spring (48) and an actuating unit (49). The eccentric unit acts to brake unwanted relative rotation between the two leg rest portions when no torque is being provided from the motor. Switches (61 Fig. 6) may be use to stop the motor at desired leg rest stowed and extended positions.
