A spring aid assembly 20 for a vehicle suspension system is provided. The spring aid assembly 20 includes: a housing 10 having a generally cylindrical cavity 34 formed therein; a damper 12 including a rod 14 extending through a cap 18; and a spring aid 38 having a proximal end 44 retained within the cavity 34 of the housing 10, a distal end 46 extending in an axial direction away from the housing10, and an outer circumferential groove 42 formed therein. The cavity 34 in the housing 10 is bounded by a generally cylindrical inner peripheral wall 88 that has a plurality of axially and radially extending projections 96 extending therefrom. A ring 40 is positioned in the outer circumferential groove 42 of the spring aid 38. The ring 40 provides a positive stop to the spring aid assembly 20 and prevents thecap 18 of the damper 12 from coming into direct contact with the housing 10 during full compression of the damper 12.
