An airflow energy recovery system generates electrical energy using air flowing through, around, by or beneath a host vehicle that is in motion and to which the system is attached. The electricity may be consumed by electrically powered mobile devices or electrical or electronic devices or systems that are built into the host vehicle. The system may comprise at least one axial, electromagnetic coil fan or turbine 1 and preferably comprises a two or three-dimensional array of fans or turbines. The fans or turbines may be of pico, nano, mini or micro size and the length of individual rotors or blades may be from a few millimetres up to a few centimetres. The rotors or blades are preferably protected by a mesh filter or cover 6. The system may be attached to a motorcycle (figure 3), bicycle, car (figure 4), van, lorry, power or sail boat, aeroplane, glider, locomotive, railway carriage, ski lift, cable car or tower block lift.
