A baffle 40 for locating in a liquid containing tank 16 (e.g. vehicle or aircraft fuel tank). The baffle comprises an inner wall 44 located within an outer wall 42, the two walls are spaced apart to define a chamber 46 between them. Each wall has an equal number of openings which are interconnected by side walls. The openings permit fluid flow between baffle internal cavity 48 and the baffle exterior. The baffle may be spherical, having a diameter of less than or equal to 10cm. Preferably the chamber 46 is sealed and filled with gas or gaseous mixture. A liquid storage tank and baffle system comprising one or more baffles that substantially fill the liquid storage space of a liquid containing tank is also disclosed. The baffle walls may resist maximum and minimum hydrostatic pressure and the chamber may allow shock waves 30 resulting from a high speed projectile 24 impact to be reduced.
