A sailing vessel 10 comprises a body 4, a sail 6 which upstands with respect to the body, a plurality of tell-tales 8 for indicating if the flow of wind over the sail is laminar or turbulent, and indicator means 12 for indicating required directional movement of the sail and/or the sailing vessel for achieving a laminar flow of wind past the sail and the sailing vessel. The indicator means comprise at least first and second indicators 16 and (20, Fig 4). The first and second indicators are provided one on each of opposite sides 18 and (22, Fig 4) of the sail or part of the sailing vessel. The first and second indicators are positioned such that they are visible to a sailor steering the sailing vessel and comprise a visual indication as to the required direction of movement of the sail and/or the sailing vessel that is required to achieve the laminar flow of the wind over the sail.
