A fitting (70, figure 4) for a vent stringer 20, the vent stringer has an outer edge 50 defining an open end 45 and the fitting comprises a fitting body 72. The fitting body defines a groove 95 slidably receivable along the open end as indicated by arrow D. The groove is shaped to receive the outer edge of the vent stringer, creating a tongue and groove joint with the outer edge and a connection between the fitting and the stringer, which prevents further slidable movement of the fitting to the stringer. Preferably the fitting body defines a mating edge (90, figure 8) located within the groove, a sealant (118) is interposed between the mating edge and the outer edge; the fitting may comprise a lip (100) extending into a channel of the vent stringer; a coupling 76 may fluidly connect the vent stringer with a vent tube 78; the fitting body may be of a composite material; the vent stringer may be an aircraft vent stringer, located in the wing box of the airplane, spacecraft, etc.. A method of installing the fitting is disclosed.
