There is provided a maritime vessel payload handling arrangement comprising a maritime vessel payload handling lift 1. The lift comprises a payload-receiving platform 2 having a first end 3 and a second end 4 remote from the first end, a first set of one or more linear actuators 14 operable to raise and lower the first end, and a second set of one or more linear actuators 16 operable to raise and lower the second end. The lift is operable to raise and lower the first end independently of the second end so that the platform can be tilted from a horizontal configuration by means of the first end being at a different height from the second end and the platform can be selectively raised and lowered without changing the tilt angle of the platform. A method of moving a payload within a maritime vessel, such as a submarine, with the payload handling arrangement is also disclosed.
