A handle assembly for a lock mechanism, comprising a door lock body 10 and a handle 20, wherein handle is provided with a control button 22, the control button is connected to a control ejector pin 23, the other side of the rear handle is connected to a handle head 25, a connecting block 27 is provided inside the handle and is in contact with the control ejector pin, and by pressing the control button, the control ejector pin is pushed, so that the control ejector pin pushes the connecting block into engagement (“snap fit” connection is disclosed) between a rear shaft seat of the lock allowing the handle to operate the lock mechanism 121. Preferably the button and ejector pin are biased into the disconnected position by spring 13 and the connecting block may have a square cross section. Also provided is a slide button 282 which moves a toggle locking block 28 having a locking end 281 into engagement with the depressed control button to hold it in the engaged position, a ball bearing 285 can engage either of two holes 291 in the handle to secure the toggle locking block in either position.
