A head unit 10 is suitable for capping a combustion chamber of an abatement system and comprises an outer face, and an inner face which forms an internal surface of the combustion chamber. A plurality of conduits 18, 20, 22 run from a respective outer port 24a - 24c, at or adjacent to the outer face, to a respective inner port at or adjacent to the inner face or on a surface 16 of an effluent flow conduit 14. A subset of the outer ports is located in a minor sector of the head unit as viewed from above, and a portion of the subset of outer ports have their respective inner ports located outside of the minor sector. The outer ports may receive an inject flow, which may be fuel, oxygen, nitrogen, or water. A cooling fluid conduit may be located on an outer face of the head unit. There may be a plurality of effluent flow conduits (14a - 14c, Fig. 1) extending from the outer surface to the inner surface. A head unit with a plurality of inject flow ports all located in a single minor sector of the head unit is also claimed.
