A power unit for a vehicle may control the flow of power between batteries and a motor of a vehicle and the unit may include capacitors 205, buss bars 207 and switching components 206 etc. that produce heat. The unit is preferably sealed by a cove 202 in a casing that has a channel 210 formed integrally within that carries a coolant to reducing the temperature inside the casing (broadly shown end on in figure 1). The channel 210 may be formed between walls of the housing 213 and a part of the vehicle chassis 214 and has inlet 209 and outlet 208. Arrows shows heat conduction to the housing wall and the coolant also helps lower ambient air temperature within the housing. (Figure 3 shows thermal fillers providing additional thermal conductive paths to the casing)
