A filtration system 10 comprises a separation module 40, such as a reverse osmosis module, and a charging module 20. A feed line 11 supplies via a first separation module line 34 a first separation module port 46 of the separation module, supplies via a first charge line 16 a first charge port 22 of the charging module, and supplies via a second charge line 18 a second charge port 26 of the charging module. An offtake between the first separation module port and the feed line allows one of the first charge line and the second charge line to be fed via the other of the first charge line and the second charge line. The system comprises a valve 58 that is operable to close the first separation module line between the offtake and the first separation module port. The valve allows the second charge line to be isolated from the first separation module port, enabling flushing of the second charge line, and subsequently the charging module, with fresh fluid. The charging module assists pressurisation and can comprise a moveable piston to separate the charging module into a first compartment 24 and a second compartment 28.
