A control system for determining 302 a route for a vehicle is configured to receive information indicative of an available vehicle range, determine 304 an overall distance from a starting location of the vehicle to an end destination. A reference distance 306 from the end destination is determined in dependence on a difference between the overall distance and the available vehicle range. A set of one or more charge points 308 is identified within the available vehicle range from the starting location in dependence on the reference distance from the end destination. A route segment 310 from the starting location to each of the one or more charge points in the set is found, one of the one or more route segments is output 312. The charge points may be determined by finding an intersection region of two circles, centred respectively on the starting location and the destination.
