The invention provides a method of simulating an airspace, including representations of physical structures located in the airspace and a plurality of simulated aircraft operating within the airspace. The types of aircraft may include UAVs and eVTOL aircraft. The physical structures may include the buildings of a city and take-off and landing sites for the aircraft. The simulation may include the effects on the aircraft of weather conditions in the airspace. The simulation may be used to design infrastructure, to recommend optimized flight patterns and to train pilots. The simulation may also be run in a live mode, to reproduce in real time the airspace and the aircraft in it. Such a live simulation can be used to control individual aircraft, to design flightplans for them and to manage air traffic within the airspace. The real aircraft can transmit live data that is used to update the simulation. A simulated aircraft in the simulation can serve as a digital twin for a real aircraft.
