The invention relates to a centralised driver tracking system 100 and method comprising a driver computing device 102 with a driver application, an automotive business computing device 106, a processor 112, network interface 110 and a database server 108. The processor is configured to detect a driver application running on the driver computing device, determine a current location of the driver computing device, and communicate, to the automotive business computing device, the current location of the driver computing device. The system may include diary and task databases for the provision of tasks to the driver, including route information. Using an accelerometer of the driver computing device, it can be determined that the driver has exceeded a speed limit.
