A revolving door system comprising a shaft 2 with a plurality of door attachment members 4 and a drive system including a drive motor and a sprag clutch mechanism. The sprag clutch is coupled to the shaft and moveable between a first disengaged position in which the drive motor is disengaged from the shaft and a second position in which the sprag clutch couples the drive motor to the shaft. The sprag clutch moves to engaged position upon force applied by a user to a door above a threshold upon which drive motor is coupled to rotate the door. Sensors may detect the approach and direction of user to turn on the motor in either a first or second direction depending on direction of travel. A speed control system may be provided by means of a magnet and Hall effect transducer. The initial inertia force threshold may be adjustable. A remote service management control may monitor the number of revolutions of the door and service time intervals. Electronic door locks may be included.
