A system for preventing unwanted movement or opening of a vehicle closure comprising: latch determining means for determining that a vehicle closure is unlatched or open 402; movement determining means for determining that the vehicle is moving; and control means for controlling braking or holding means for preventing the unlatched vehicle closure from moving 408, in response to determining that the vehicle closure is unlatched and the vehicle is moving. The closure may be a door, wing, tailgate, bonnet, fuel flap etc. The vehicle may be determined to be moving when its speed exceed a predetermined speed threshold 404. The closure may also be determined to be moving 406 before the closure is prevented from moving. The closure may be driven into a latched or closed position 410 after preventing it from moving.
