The system (5) has a frequency modulating unit for frequency modulation of a data signal. A demodulation unit for demodulating the modulated data signal is connected to cells (20) of an electric battery (2). The modulating unit includes controlled switches (S) e.g. isolated gate bipolar transistors, whose frequencies are controlled by the data signal, where the controlled switches form an electrical inverter (3) having a controlled switching frequency. The demodulation unit includes a current measurement unit for measuring current through the cells of the battery. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a car with electric or hybrid propulsion (2) a method for transmitting a data signal to a battery management system of an electric battery.
