The invention relates to a vehicle, especially a rail vehicle, that comprises a power supply device (2), an electrical drive device (3) linked therewith, an energy accumulator (4) linked with the drive device (3) for storing braking energy in a braking phase of the vehicle and for releasing the stored energy to the drive device (3) in a phase of acceleration of the vehicle, and a control device (5) for controlling the operation of the power supply device (2), the energy accumulator (4) and the drive device (3). The control device (4) is adapted to release the energy of the energy accumulator (4) in a short first interval in the phase of acceleration in order to achieve a high acceleration. The invention also relates to a method for operating such a vehicle.
