The crane control system has a cable (20) for lifting a load (10) and a sensor unit is provided for determining a cable angle relative to the direction of the gravitational force. A gyroscope unit is provided for measuring the cable angular velocity. The sensor unit and the gyroscope unit are arranged at a cable sequence element, which is connected to a flange (1) of the crane, particularly by a cardanic connection and is led to the cable. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for controlling the crane (2) a method for controlling the signal tower of a crane.
