An apparatus for selectively deactivating non-critical loads, in the event of power supply undervoltage, is provided. Two independent shut down paths are configured which perform voltage monitoring in parallel. The outputs of the paths are combined to produce a signal to override load drive control signals in relation to loads having low criticality, in the event of undervoltage on either or each paths. Rapid response times and low error rates are achieved in a cost-effective apparatus.
