A projectile and method for stopping aerial vehicles. The projectile (101) comprises a shell (120) and a bunch of filaments (105). The bunch (105) is wound in a coil and placed inside the shell (120). The projectile (101) according to the solution may be brought to a target by different methods and utilising different means. For example, the projectile (101) may be fired with compressed air or a propulsion charge, by using a compressed air weapon or rocket launcher. In addition, the projectile (101) may be taken to the target by using a rocket or aerial vehicle.
