A method for preventing a collision of a vehicle (200) comprises reading in a yaw rate signal (212), a speed signal (222) and a radar signal (232), wherein the yaw rate signal (212) represents a current yaw rate, the speed signal (222) represents a speed of the vehicle (200) and the radar signal (232) represents a relative position and a relative speed between the vehicle (200) and an object (240) detected in the surroundings. An object path signal (252), which represents a predicted movement path (254, 258) of the object (240), is determined using the yaw rate signal (212), the speed signal (222) and the radar signal (232). A vehicle path signal (256), which represents a predicted movement path (254, 258) of the vehicle (200), is determined using the yaw rate signal (212) and the speed signal (222). A collision signal (272), which indicates a risk of collision between the vehicle (200) and the object (240), is ascertained using the object path signal (252) and the vehicle path signal (256).
