Aspects concern a method for estimating an ultra-fine particle concentration, comprising receiving data indicative of, a measured ultra-fine particle concentration and a measured nitrogen oxide concentration, the measured ultra-fine particle concentration and the measured nitrogen oxide concentration correlated to each location of a plurality of locations and corresponding time of a plurality of times; establishing a correlation between ultra-fine particle concentration and nitrogen oxide concentration from the measured ultra-fine particle concentrations and the measured nitrogen oxide concentrations; and estimating, from a nitrogen oxide concentration measured at a location where the ultra-fine particle concentration is to be estimated, the ultra-fine particle concentration according to the correlation.
