A transport device (2) for overcoming a step-like obstacle (1) has a carrier structure (3) and can be driven in a driving position. The height difference of the step-like obstacle (1) is to be overcome using a lever action. A support element (10) of the transport device (2) can be placed on an upper surface (1a) of the step-like obstacle (1) using a tilting movement of the carrier structure (3) in the direction of the step-like obstacle (1) and the carrier structure (3) can be tilted by means of the support element (10) placed in this way. The transport device (2) has a connecting element (11) and a guide element (12) connected to the carrier structure (3). The connecting element (11) is guided by the guide element (12) and the support element (10) is connected in an articulated manner to the connecting element (11). The connecting element (11) can be pivoted on the support element (10) from a first into a second position and can be brought from a first into a second position on the guide element (12), while the carrier structure (3) is supported against the upper surface (1a) of the step-like obstacle (1) by means of the support element (10).
