The invention relates to a rim for a vehicle wheel, comprising a rim body (12) which has a hub section (14), a rim base (16), multiple support sections (20) that are arranged between the hub section (14) and the rim base (16), at least one intermediate space (22) which is arranged between the support sections (20), and at least one cover element (28) which is paired with the intermediate area, wherein the cover element can be converted from a first position into a second position by means of an actuation device, and the coverage of the intermediate space by means of the cover element in the first position differs from the coverage of the intermediate space by means of the cover element in the second position. The cover element deforms upon transitioning from the first position to the second position. The actuation device is made of a thermal working element (40; 40') which automatically begins to move the cover element (28) from the first position in the direction of the second position when a first defined temperature is exceeded.
