A method and system for selecting a charging station for charging an electric vehicle are disclosed. The method may include obtaining a first data set including a predefined temperature of the cells of the battery for a future point-in-time and a second data set including a predefined state-of-charge of the cells of the battery for the future point-in-time. The method further includes analyzing the first data set and the second data set with respect to the future point-in-time and obtaining a future point-in-time of arrival of the electric vehicle at one or more charging stations. The method further includes predicting a charging rate of the battery at the future point-in-time of arrival of the electric vehicle at the one or more charging stations based on the analysis and selecting a charging station for charging the electric vehicle, based on the predicted charging rates.
