A pitch lock system (200, 400) including an outer member (204, 206, 318) having a centerline axis (12, 112, 312), an inner member (210, 405) located radially inward of the outer member (204, 206, 318) with respect to the centerline axis (12, 112, 312), and a plurality of clutch elements (208, 402, 404) located between the outer member (204, 206, 318) and the inner member (210, 405). The pitch lock system (200, 400) has a disengaged position (1200) and an engaged position (1300, 1400). In the engaged position (1300, 1400), the plurality of clutch elements (208, 402, 404) are constrained between the inner member (210, 405) and the outer member (204, 206, 318) such that relative axial direction of the plurality of clutch elements (208, 402, 404) is permitted in only one direction. An engine (10) includes a pitch actuator (58, 66) and the pitch lock system (200, 400).
