A fault diagnostics system for an aircraft brake system is proposed, comprising a plurality of sensors coupled with the brake system and/or wheels of the aircraft coupled with the brake system for detecting physical parameters that characterize at least a braking process, an onboard data acquisition unit, and a diagnostics unit, wherein the onboard data acquisition unit is coupled with the plurality of sensors and is adapted to collect sensor data generated by the plurality of sensors during a braking process, wherein the onboard data acquisition unit is couplable with the diagnostics unit and is adapted to transfer the collected sensor data or data based on the collected sensor data to the diagnostics unit, and wherein the diagnostics unit comprises a processing unit adapted to analyze the received data through a machine-learning algorithm, which is trained using representative data characterizing normal and various anomalous states, to detect an anomalous state of the aircraft brake system, and, if an anomalous state is detected, to isolate a root cause of the anomalous state.
