The invention relates to a plug connector (1) for an electrical grid, comprising: a housing (3); a first plug connector element (2) which is fixed to the housing (3) and of which the first electrical contact elements (5) can be electrically connected to a first electrical grid portion of the electrical grid; a second plug connector element (7), which is formed separately from the first plug connector element (2) and the housing (3) and has two second electrical contact elements (9) and two busbars (10), each one of the second contact elements (9) and an individual one of the busbars (10) being integrally connected to one another, and the busbars (10) being electrically connectable to a second electrical grid portion of the electrical grid. The housing (3) has a retaining portion receptacle (6) which corresponds to a retaining portion (11) of the second plug connector element (7) and in which the second plug connector element (7) can be retained. The invention further relates to a method for assembling the plug connector (1).
