A device for preparing control of a vehicle (50), comprising:- a processing module (42) configured to obtain a planned route of the vehicle (50), to acquire environmental data from at least one external system (56) and dynamically generate at least one geofence (61, 63, 65, 67a) based on the environmental data, and to determine a geofence indicator indicating at least one position at which the planned route lies inside the at least one geofence; and- a communication module (44) configured to send the geofence indicator to a control system (52) configured to operate the vehicle (50).
