A method of turning a robotic garden tool in the presence of an object, where the robotic garden tool includes a body with a first end and a second end opposite the first end. The method includes moving the robotic garden tool in a first direction of travel with the first end serving as the leading end, stopping the robotic garden tool at a first location spaced a predetermined distance from the object, rotating the robotic garden tool when in the first location, and moving the robotic garden tool away from the first location in a second direction of travel with the second end serving as the leading end.
