A vehicle 1 is a series hybrid vehicle that drives drive wheels 6 using a travel motor 4 by utilizing power of a power generation motor 3, which generates power by being driven by motive power of an internal combustion engine 2 provided with a turbo charger 7. A method for controlling the vehicle 1 includes executing a fuel cut of the internal combustion engine 2 when excess power EP_OVER is greater than at least power EP_SYS that can be inputted in the system and the internal combustion engine is being supercharged.
