The present invention relates to a braking system (10), which comprises: at least one braking mechanism; an actuator (14); and at least one brake cable (12) operably connected between the actuator (14) and the braking mechanism, wherein the actuator (14) includes: an input member (16) configured to be displaced to cause brake operation; and at least one transmission member (18) configured to be moved by the force input member (16) and thus translate the at least one brake cable (12) in response to the displacement of the force input member (16), wherein the transmission member (18) is so configured that the translated distance of the brake cable (12) varies from a larger amount to a smaller amount per unit movement of the force input member (16) with increased displacement of the force input member (16).
