A high-voltage system (100) for a transport refrigeration unit (TRU) includes a high-voltage direct current (HVDC) source (102), and a first converter coupling the HVDC source (102) to a distribution bus (102), wherein the distribution bus (104) is coupled to a compressor (120), at least one condenser fan (114), and at least one evaporator fan (112). Embodiments may include that the distribution bus (104) is coupled to a compressor bus (122) coupled to the compressor (120), a condenser bus (126) coupled to the at least one condenser fan (114), and an evaporator bus (124) coupled to the at least one evaporator fan (112).
