A fuel gauging sensing device (100) for a fuel tank (150) for aircrafts, the device (100) comprising an optical fibre harness (105) established along the internal surface of the tank (150), a master optical controller (115a) connected to a first terminal of the optical fibre harness (105), a slave optical controller (115b) connected to a second terminal of the optical fibre harness (105), wherein the optical fibre harness (105) comprises a plurality of Fibre Bragg Grating, FBG, sensors (110), wherein the FBG sensors (110) are spaced in the optical fibre harness (105) between 1mm and 25 mm and configured to provide temperature gradients inside the tank (150) and wherein the master and slave optical controllers (115a, 115b) are configured to obtain the fuel gauging of the tank (150) based on the output from the plurality Fibre Bragg Grating, FBG, sensors (110).
